Rowing PEI is organizing its first ever fun race day for Saturday August 16th. *note the change of date!!
If you’re interested, you can sign up now on SignUp Genius. The deadline to register is Wednesday August 13th.
Once we know how many people are interested, the umpires will randomly draw names to pair up rowers in the coastal doubles. The doubles will race head to head down a 500 or 1,000 metre course.
We will also be offering a “challenge” section. Rowers will be able to select a boat and race down a 500 metre course. This will be a time trial – best time wins!
Stephen and Ernie will be working on setting up a buoyed course off Victoria Park where rowers can practise as part of their rows.
This will be a fun event, followed by a barbeque. We will be asking competitors to bring a food contribution and the club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs. We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up, clean up and organizing the regatta. Email us if you’d like to get involved.
We hope to see you on Saturday August 16th!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask a member of the race day organizing committee: Mike Gibson, Stephen Murray, Daphne Dumont, Mary Lynne Bruvels, Liza Jamani and Nancy Russell.
